X-Entertainment.com -- A Website Review
One of the greatest features of the Internet is its ability to provide users worldwide access to any type of information they desire. As surfers we have the luxury of sampling any type of interest or category from just a simple click. The key to a successful website is to tap into a particular audience and connect with their passions. More so, I have always thought that the best web destinations are those that provide unique content that users can't get anywhere else. No matter how niche, if you provide a distinctive content offer, people will come. I find more and more that there are too many websites that offer similar or redundant content. The true finds and the ones I am most likely to become loyal too, are the sites that are very particular. And few are more particular then X-Entertainment.com.

Matt and the gang at X-Entertainment.com have claimed that their site is impossible to label, which is probably true, so I will try my best to describe what the site is to me. X-Entertainment.com is a collection of all the great things about "Retro-Saturday morning, early childhood interests". Having grown up in the late seventies and eighties, this site is definitely one that hits home for me. Visitors to the website will find such things as old cartoon reviews including such greats as the Incredible Hulk, The Droids, Thundercats, The Centurions, Pac Man and countless others. These synopses are incredibly detailed and even include screenshots of various episodes. Also reviewed are classic video games, TV shows, and obscure films. Another goodie is the features on old classic toys. And by classics I mean the likes of He-man figures, Transformers, and of course, the ultimate toy line Star Wars. Included are pictures of the figures & accessories (including shots of the toys in their original packaging) and amazingly enough, vidcaps of the TV commercials for the toys. It is unbelievable how they have tracked down some of this material. My personal favourite section however is the articles on the old breakfast cereals I loved as a child. Here we are treated to everything from reviews of all the different brands, details on the various toy prizes in the boxes, and even descriptions of the commercials. Users can even download the TV ads for such gems like Cap'n Crunch featuring the Soggies. (Now that is probably lost on some, but for others you totally remember those!!!)

The real beauty of the site is how much it will make you remember your days of youth. It is nicely complimented by the writer's obvious passion for the material. This site is filled with so much content that I can't believe they tracked down or better, even remembered. Each visit to the website is always followed by a nostalgic laugh or smile. Now granted, this is not for everybody (that might be an enormous understatement) but it doesn't aim to be. Those involved with X-Entertainment.com are doing what all the best writers do, writing what you know. It seems obvious that all the contributors have their tongue firmly planted in cheek but equally have a strong affinity for this geeky goodness. For those that appreciate or fondly remember such things…I strongly recommend a visit. There are hours of enjoyment to be had at this truly unique web destination.
