Weezer maladroit - CD Review
Maladroit - n. An inept person. adj. Marked by a lack of adroitness; inept.

It feels like we just had a new Weezer album like last year…oh wait, we did. I can remember hearing that the Los Angeles band was going to release another album when I was buying their last one. This is almost unheard of, a band releasing an album one day short of a year after their last album…especially Weezer. They took 5 years off after the release of their second album Pinkerton. "Cool," I thought to myself after hearing the news "Another Weezer album." Then I started thinking 'there was no way it was going to be any good…it's too soon.' or 'It's gonna be all stuff that didn't make the Green Album' 'It's gonna suck balls.'
"Well? Does it suck balls?" You ask.

I would have to say no. No, it does not suck balls…not at all. In fact this album rocks. In just one short year Weezer has managed to write, record, and produce an album that, in my opinion, is better than it's predecessor.

After the success of their first, self-titled album (blue album), many people were ready to accept that Weezer was a talented new band that was here for the long haul. However, when Geffen released Pinkerton Weezer's second CD, fans and critics didn't seem quite as pleased. Then the famed foursome literally disappeared from the limelight, never to be heard from again…or so we thought. To the delight of many, myself included, Weezer came back…and better than ever.

Maladroit is rich with sharp guitar riffs, powerful bass, and classic Weezer beats. A cross between old guitar rock and punk this album has a nice mix of different, fresh sounds that are all rich and well produced. Rivers Cuomo, front man and writer for the band, has a way of taking every day kinda language making into a catchy song. I mean, none of the tunes are filled with life changing lyrics or anything, but that's not what we want, we want to rock. And rock is what you will do.

Maladroit is a perfect summer album. Windows down, sun shining, cruising down the highway with my Weezer blaring…especially Fall Together (song 10). This is the music that makes you want to buy a guitar and learn to rock…hard. (bite bottom lip and raise arms in a rocker salute)
