What The Fuck …
Is up with people dissing Star Wars?

I mean I love the franchise, I mean love it. As a kid growing up in the 80s it's hard not too. We all had the toys, the videos, and the costumes for Halloween. I even had a star wars cook book at one point in my life. Great for parties with stoners, the kitkat ewoks were a huge hit.

However how seriously are people taking this movie franchise these days? Here I was, first day back after the Christmas holidays. I was working away in my office when I hear a very upset guy, " It looks stupid. I mean this new actor seems like a little brat." So I decided to stroll out and offer my opinion. I liked the last movie, and I think the new one looks fan-fucking-tastic. A very heated argument ensued where we discussed the merits of the new trailers available on the web.

So what you ask? Everyone has opinions and is entitled to them. And yes I agree. My problem is with these people who expect this movie to be as good as they thought it was when they were kids. Come on people that was 20 fucking years ago. My opponent seemed to think George Lucas was a hack and that he should have had someone else write the prequels. How the fuck could that have happened? There is only one man in this universe who knows Star Wars, and it's the big bearded guy himself.

Now I'm not saying that he is god, I'm just saying it has to be him that does it. He's the one who knows where all of these characters are going, and how they are going to get there.

So we then talked about Episode 1, what did he think? Of course he hated it. Why? You guessed it, Jar Jar. No I didn't like him either, but upon watching the movie a couple more times, I found the little kid more annoying than him. However I understand that all that shit has to be in there. These movies are aimed at 10 year olds for crying out loud. Not 30 yr old graphic designers who own their own I-Books. And coming at it from that perspective I really like the movie. I sat in the theatre opening night at 4am, and I got chills when the Fox logo came up and the music started. I was a kid again. It felt so great to be back in that universe again, it was like a homecoming especially with all the clever additions for those of us who know the older movies really well.

How can these movies possibly live up to the hype of 20 years, especially when you have these people who just can't accept that this is a franchise and it's about money. Accept that, accept that certain things in the movies are aimed at kids and you will enjoy the entire experience a whole lot more.
