How often do we see these sort of headlines adorning the covers of the elusive tabloids and entertainment shill magazines? These proclamations of life threatening partying being performed by the young adult celebrity set. Okay, I am not advocating excessive drinking but this is a tad bit out of hand no? Is this really that stunning of a revelation that young adults are out drinking a tad too much with their pals at a nightclub on a weekend? Hold on, back up, are you telling me that Christina (or Xtina depending on whether you are from the streets or not) Aguileria was spotted out with friends drinking until the wee hours of the night at a club in Los Angeles? Drinking alcohol?!!? Drinking alcohol with her friends?!!? Drinking alcohol with her friends at a club?!!? Someone contact her parents! Someone break out their rolodex and call Max Van Wiseldorf the therapist for the stars! Alert the National Enquirer this is a code orange alert! People, why is this such a difficult concept to grasp? They are young and this is what young people do. It is common knowledge that when people are in their early adulthood they are ferociously social animals so why should those in the public eye be exempt from this? Why do we give the likes of Justin Timberlake and Kelly Osbourne such a hard time for just acting like everyone else their own age?

I must say I actually feel sorry for Prince William and Henry and the Bush twins (Jenna and Barbara). Very sorry. On occasions their names have been dragged through the proverbial mud and for really the most unjustified reasons. Especially the Bush twins. (I wonder if they have gotten worse treatment because they are girls? Well, that my friend is another article.) I don't know these kids personally and admittedly the only information I have ever gathered on them was what I have been able to digest from media outlets. But the one thing I do know is they are all at the age where your social life is the most important thing in the world. So the twins went to a keg party and got a little drunk. So Henry has tried smoking and William has been known to sip pints with his mates. Big deal. Are they really doing anything that different that everyone their same age isn't doing? Now it doesn't make it right but all of their friends are doing the same bloody thing. You know as much as all the prudes of the world hate to admit it, guess what, this is what young people do. Their lives revolve around socializing and usually drinking. That's right, I said it. Drinking and in most cases underage drinking. It is not right, but they do it and we all did it. And all of our friends did it. Honestly, show me one 20 year old person that isn't planning to go out this weekend and drink at a bar or nightclub. It is a part of life and you are being somewhat naïve if you think this isn't what goes on.

I find it very ridiculous that we boast that Tobey McGuire's life is being flushed down a booze filled vortex just because some paparazzi caught a photo of him after having a little too much to drink one night. This best exemplifies our obsession with the celebrity culture. Every move they make someone is there to analyze. The media lives for stories like this and are desperately waiting for their chance to sensationalize it. And don't give me this role model diatribe because no one asks to be a role model. Sure tons of little girls adore and look up to Britney Spears but just because of that fact it doesn't make her impervious to the trends of growing up. Yes, she sings and makes millions but that doesn't make her invulnerable to peer pressure and the cravings of social life. I think people need to give these young celebs a break and remember that even though they are in the public spotlight they still are just young adults. Young adults do as young adults do. We shouldn't be that horrified to hear that Hillary Duff went to Cancun and partied the night away. Because your twenty something year old kids are doing the same damn thing.

Plus, they are rich and famous….can you blame them? Hell, if I was in their shoes I'd be getting drunk and making out with Tara Reid too!

…but that's just my opinion.
