| Mr. Deeds - A DVD Review | |||||||
| Adam
Sandler I want my 2 hours back!
I don't know what happened to Adam Sandler. He started out with some really fuckin funny movies. Happy Gilmore is a perennial favorite and Billy Madison is just plain hilarious. Actually I think I do know what happened, him and his writing and directing buddy's found out what it meant to have a hit movie that was very commercially successful. The Wedding Singer was a huge movie for them, I mean ask most women about Adam Sandler and they will name that movie. Or I guess they could name Big Daddy, which while also very commercially successful, was actually really funny. But then he did a little piece of shit called Little Nicky. It seems that the more success the team gets, the worse their films are. And Mr. Deeds is no exception. Actually I liked this movie the first time I saw it, as Brewster's Millions. Now the story isn't exactly the same as that movie, but pretty damn close. Longfellow Deeds (Sandler) inherits a few billion dollars and then hilarity is supposed to ensue. The problem is, there is no real hilarity. I remember when this movie came out the scene in the trailer of Steve Buscemi crashing up a brand new corvette, I like most people imagined that this was what the movie was about. Some guy who has an endless supply of cash and how he blows it and wastes it. This movie isn't about that at all. It's a love story for Sandler and Winonna Ryder. Ok, I can't even touch her, she's just had too much bad press lately, poor girl. She's OK, in this movie, nothing really breakout or original. My biggest problem with this movie is that it just isn't funny, at all. I think I laughed out loud maybe twice, shit I laugh at commercials like that some time, this is supposed to be a comedy movie that should leave me in stitches. It doesn't and that's the problem, there really isn't anything worth watching in this movie. So to recap, this movie sucks ass, if you want to see a good movie with Adam Sandler, go rent one of his older ones. You'll save a couple bucks at the rental store and you will have a much better time. Downs Do you Agree with what he's saying?
